Legislative & Governmental

The ISDA Legislative Committee reviews proposed legislation and recommends a response to the Board of Trustees. In addition, the Legislative Committee proposes legislation based upon the Board of Trustees position on various items.

The ISDA contract lobbyist, Mr. Charles “Skip” Smyser, esq., oversees activities during the regular session of the legislature and advises the association on any legislation that might impact dentistry.

The communications with legislators is enhanced through fall “Meet Your Legislators” dinners where member dentists have an opportunity to get personally acquainted with area legislators. The programs are sponsored by component societies throughout the state.

The Idaho Dental Political Action Committee (IDPAC), while independent from the Legislative Committee, helps raise funds for campaign contributions and the various activities relating to the legislature.
